Tower of London
On Wednesday 6th December, year 10 set off on their trip to the Tower of London. We have been studying 'Othello' by William Shakespeare and it generated discussion about Shakespearean London and what life was like when he was alive and writing. Students were interested in visiting this iconic landmark so we travelled on the tube down to Tower Hill and spent the day exploring the Tower and learning about its history and events that occurred there.
Here are some of the students’ thoughts about the Tower of London:
“My favourite part of the trip to Tower of London was seeing the Crown Jewels, the sparkling diamonds and gems took my breath away. It is fascinating to imagine ancient monarchs of England dressed in the splendour of the crown jewels. People loved to visit The Tower of London because it is steeped in history and dates back nearly a thousand years they enjoy seeing the beefeaters who guard the tower.”
“In the Tower of London I had a lot of fun looking around at the astonishing pieces of art and equipment. There was shiny pieces of jewellery In my eyes while I walk around . There were soldiers that had massive guns with knifes on top.”
